10 years rigorous imprisonment

Accused caught with MDMA in Kannur gets 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. Vadakara NDPS Special Court sentenced 27-year-old Mohammad Harif, a resident of Kasargod Badiyatukka
He was caught with 205 grams of MDMA from Kannur railway station on January 6 last year. He was arrested by Kannur Excise Range Inspector Sinu Koilliam and his team with the help of Railway Force. The accused has not been granted bail since his arrest.

Assistant Excise Commissioners T Ragesh and PL Shibu conducted further investigation of the case. Advocate for the prosecution. Mr. VK George was present.

24 years rigorous imprisonment and fine

24 years rigorous imprisonment and fine for accused in drug case. The court has awarded exemplary severe punishment to the accused caught by the State Excise Enforcement Squad.

On May 24, 2019, the Excise arrested the accused who arrived with hashish oil, ganja and lethal weapons worth Rs. Manuvilsan, Anwar Sadat and Raj Mohan, natives of Ernakulam, tried to smuggle drugs by hiding them in the secret compartment of the car.

Thiruvananthapuram Second Additional District Sections Court sentenced the accused to 24 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,10,000 each for conspiracy and drug smuggling. The court observed that such severe punishments are necessary for those who engage in drug trafficking which destroys the society.

10 years rigorous imprisonment

10 years rigorous imprisonment for a youth caught with synthetic drugs in Kollam. 25-year-old Amal, a native of Karikuzhi, was arrested on July 20 last year in a raid conducted by Excise Special Squad, Kollam. 80 grams of methamphetamine was recovered from him that day.
The then Kollam Assistant Excise Commissioner completed the investigation in time and submitted the charge sheet to the court while the accused was on remand. Honorable Kollam Additional Sections Court Judge Smt. Bindu Sudhakaran announced the verdict.
It is a commendable achievement that the trial proceedings were completed within 17 months of the discovery of the case and the accused was given the deserved punishment.

10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh

The Vadakara NDPS court has sentenced the accused who was caught with methamphetamine in Kannur to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.

On October 30, 2022, Pinarayi Excise Range team arrested Ismail, a native of Mambaram Poyanad, with 156.744 grams of methamphetamine in his car at Mailulli Metta.

24 years rigorous imprisonment for selling drugs through courier

On March 16, 2022, Kozhikode Excise Circle Inspector and his team arrested Fazalu, son of Abdul Rahiman, a native of Mankao, Kozhikode, with 1.52 grams of LSD, 1.435 kg of hashish oil, 2.74 grams of MDMA, and 3.15 grams of cocaine at Fatima House, Kozhikode.

The Vadakara NDPS Special Court, which completed the trial, sentenced the first accused Fasalu to 13 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh for possessing 1.52 grams of LSD, 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh for possessing 1.435 kg of hashish oil, and for possessing 2.74 grams of MDMA and 3.15 grams of cocaine. He was sentenced to a total of 24 years with 6 months imprisonment each. Suffer the punishment together.

De-Addiction Centers

As part of the precautionary measures and lock down for 21 days from 25.03.2020 through out the Country, further to the strong possibility of a widespread outbreak of Novel Corona Virus (Covid-19), various Toddy/ Foreign Liquor licensed shops in the State of Kerala have been closed down. In the circumstance, in case of any contingency due to the unavailability of the liquor, the facilities of the following Vimukthi De-addiction Centers, under the control of Excise Department, may be utilized.

Excise Arts & Sports Meet

17th State Excise Arts & Sports Meet have been conducted on 8th, 9th & 10th November 2019, at St. Joseph College, Devagiri, Kozhikode. Hon’ble Minister for Labour and Excise Sri. T.P. Ramakrishnan inaugurated the Opening Ceremony. He hoisted the flag and received the salute of the participants on the March Past.

The closing ceremony was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister for Transport Sri. A.K. Saseendran, and handed over trophies for the winners. Ernakulam Division won the overall championship in the Arts & Sports Meet, 2019.

Vehicle Flag-Off

As part of modernizing the Department, and strengthening of enforcement activities, 79 new vehicles were allotted to the Excise Department. Hon’ble Minister for Labour and Excise Sri. T.P. Ramakrishnan flagged off the vehicles on 07/11/2019, in a function at Police Training College Ground, Thycaud.

14 Tata Hexa, purchased with an expenditure of 1.68 Crores from plan fund, were allotted to Highway Patrol/ Striking Force, as per GO(Rt)No.441/2019/Taxes dated 20/06/2019, and 65 Mahindra TUV 300, purchased expending 5 Crores from non-plan fund, for replacing old vehicles in the Department, as per GO(Rt)No.411/2019/Taxes dated 14/06/2019.

Anti Intoxication Programme

ADGP & Excise Commissioner Sri. S. Aananthakrishnan IPS inaugurated the 75th joint Anti Intoxication Awareness Programme of Eagle Media and Excise Department at Koodal Vocational Higher Secondary School on 07/09/2019. Anti Intoxication Awareness Seminar and Medical Camp in association with Punalur Pranav Hospital were conducted as part of the programme.
