40 Kg Ganja, seized at Palakkad, while transporting in a Car
While Palakkad Excise Special Squad was inspecting the vehicles at Toll Plaza, based on the secret information received by the Excise Circle Inspector Sri. M. Rakesh, the WagonR Car bearing Regn.No. KL-55-W-3646 passed the toll plaza, breaking the barricade and hitting Civil Excise Officer Sri. Sreekumar. Excise Officials chased the vehicle, but the accused fled after leaving the vehicle near Maha Kaliyamman Temple at Mele Pokkamthodu. The searches for the accused with the help of local public and Cherpulassery Excise Range Party, were unsuccessful. On inspection, after the vehicle was forced open with the help of a mechanic, 40 kilo gram Ganja kept in 4 bags were found from the dickie of the car.
On the preliminary enquiry, it is revealed that the Ganja was collected from Tuni in Andhra Pradesh, transported to Tirupur by Dhanbad Express and was being transported by Car, by a gang under a habitual offender from Tirur in Malappuram District, who was accused in various Ganja Cases. CCTV footage of the accused were collected by the Excise Party.
65 Kg Ganja has been seized in 3 days, as part of the special enforcement operations “Operation Monsoon” declared by the Deputy Excise Commissioner, Palakkad. Excise Inspector Sri. T. Rajeev, Preventive Officer Sri. Lother L. Perara, Civil Excise Officers S/Sri. Johnson, Sreekumar, Shinoj, Suresh, Vishakh, Vinesh, Excise Driver Sri. Selvakumar Plackal of Palakkad Excise Special Squad, and Assistant Excise Inspector Sri. Hareesh, Preventive Officer Sri. Santhoshkumar, Civil Excise Officer Sri. K.P. Rajesh of Cherpulassery Excise Range Office were participated in the operations.
