He shall be a Superintendent of Police, (IPS Officer), on deputation to the Excise Department. He will report directly to the Commissioner of Excise under whose direct control he will function. He will initiate vigilance enquiry only after getting specific orders on allegations/complaints from the Excise Commissioner. Main powers and duties of the Vigilance officer are given below:

  • Enquiries relating to allegations/complaints of misconduct, gross negligence or dereliction of duty and corruption against the officers/ officials of the Excise Department.
  • Monitoring investigation of cases registered under the Abkari Act and Rules, NDPS Act and Rules, M & TP Act and Rules, involving allegations/complaints/controversies.
  • Monitoring of disciplinary proceedings arising out of all vigilance/ commission/departmental reports.
